Solar power represent the highest share in investments in renewable energies in the world that are evenly shared between domestics and large scale plants. PV is a key factor for the phase out of the carbon-based energy and can be applied almost everywhere on the planet.
According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) the global installed PV power capacity at the end of 2017 has been close to 400 GW; the EU’s share is about one fourth of the installed capacity, which can provide about 4% of its electricity demand.
The increase of installed capacity in 2017 is about 30% compared with the previous year!
Installed capacity [MW]
Cost of PV installation
» Is continuing to decrease, also forecast up to 2025 says that. Customers will take benefit from this price reduction together with the environment
Generation cost $/MWh
» With data extrapolated from the Solar Power Europe Report 2017 it can be seen that now, in the utility scale, PV cost is competitive with fossil fuels and nuclear.
