Sungrow PowerKeeper: the new C&I energy storage system

Sungrow PowerKeeper Series is the new ESS (Energy Storage System) for Commercial & Industrial (C&I) applications, now available in the VP Solar product portfolio.

Based on the “Ace 007, Ace Profit” concept, PowerKeeper Series has been developed to deliver zero waste, zero outage and maximum energy value optimisation through modular design, operational continuity and advanced energy management functions.

PowerKeeper Series: modular energy storage system from 50 to 1,000 kWh

The Sungrow PowerKeeper solution uses modular battery units with a capacity of 12.48 kWh, enabling flexible system configurations from 50 kWh up to 1,000 kWh, with discharge durations configurable from 2 to 8 hours.

The modular architecture allows the system to be precisely sized according to the actual energy requirements of the end user, avoiding oversizing while maintaining the possibility of expanding installed capacity as energy needs evolve.

The solution integrates the SH125CX hybrid inverter and can be configured with multiple units connected in parallel for applications with different load profiles, from commercial facilities to higher-power industrial installations.

Fast installation thanks to modular design

One of the key features of the PowerKeeper Series is its simplified installation process.

The system can be supplied with a pre-assembled 50 kWh stack, designed to accelerate on-site installation activities, or with individual battery modules to be integrated into the required configuration. With an individual weight of approximately 90 kg, the battery modules are designed to simplify handling, replacement and future system expansion.

The compact design also enables different installation layouts, optimising available space even in technically challenging environments.

Energy backup with integrated ATS

In the C&I segment, power continuity is a critical requirement. PowerKeeper Series integrates an ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) that enables the transition to off-grid mode in approximately 10 milliseconds, ensuring continuous power supply to connected loads.

This feature makes the system suitable for applications where energy availability is essential, including manufacturing companies, commercial facilities, infrastructures with sensitive loads and backup power systems.

Safety and reliability for outdoor applications

PowerKeeper Series is designed to ensure high reliability even in demanding environmental conditions.

The system features:

  • IP66 protection rating;
  • C5 corrosion resistance;
  • operation in ambient temperatures from -20 °C to +50 °C;
  • resistance to immersion in up to 50 cm of water.

System safety is managed through multi-level protection from the individual cell to the complete system, with electrical and thermal parameter monitoring, anomaly detection and dedicated functions designed to prevent risks associated with battery operation.

Intelligent energy management and revenue optimisation

PowerKeeper Series integrates advanced energy management functions to automatically adapt system operation according to site conditions.

Thanks to intelligent optimisation algorithms, the system can manage multiple application scenarios, including:

  • photovoltaic self-consumption;
  • peak shaving;
  • energy arbitrage;
  • backup power;
  • microgrids;
  • integration with EV charging systems.

Monitoring through the Logger and management via Sungrow platforms enable simplified system supervision, with diagnostic functions, updates and operational performance optimisation.

The new Sungrow PowerKeeper Series is available and orderable from the VP Solar product portfolio for renewable energy professionals.

The system also provides enhanced protection against harsh environmental conditions, including resistance to immersion in up to 50 cm of water.

System safety is ensured through multi-level protection with monitoring from the individual cell level through to the complete system. The control technology includes electrical and thermal monitoring, as well as advanced diagnostics, improving reliability, operational safety and system lifetime.

PowerKeeper integrates advanced Energy Management System (EMS) functions to automatically optimise energy flows according to photovoltaic generation, consumption profiles and grid conditions. The system supports applications including PV + ESS, peak shaving, energy arbitrage, backup power, microgrids and EV charging infrastructure integration, contributing to reduced energy costs and maximising the value of stored energy.
