SolarEdge CSS-OD 107: 107 kWh battery energy storage system for C&I applications

SolarEdge CSS-OD 107 expands the range of battery energy storage systems designed for commercial and industrial (C&I) photovoltaic applications, with a 107 kWh solution engineered to provide flexibility, scalability and smart energy management.

Integrated into the SolarEdge C&I ecosystem, the system combines battery storage, inverter technology and energy management, enabling installers, system designers and EPCs to develop configurations tailored to different business generation and consumption profiles.

CSS-OD 107 and CSS-OD 197: two solutions for different C&I requirements

The SolarEdge range also includes the CSS-OD 197, a battery energy storage system with a total capacity of 197.12 kWh per cabinet, designed for C&I applications with higher energy and power requirements.

The two solutions therefore address different project sizes and requirements:

  • CSS-OD 107: 107 kWh per cabinet, 29.9 or 49.9 kW battery inverter and scalability up to 2.1 MWh;
  • CSS-OD 197: 197.12 kWh per cabinet, 50 or 100 kW battery inverter and scalability up to 4 MWh.

The CSS-OD 107 therefore provides greater sizing flexibility for small and medium-sized C&I installations, while the CSS-OD 197 is suitable for projects with higher energy requirements and power demand.

Both solutions are part of the SolarEdge ecosystem and are managed through SolarEdge ONE for C&I.

Self-consumption, peak shaving and backup

Battery storage can be used to store surplus PV energy and make it available when site demand increases.

CSS-OD 107 supports a range of energy management strategies, including:

  • increasing PV self-consumption;
  • peak shaving to reduce peak demand from the grid;
  • energy optimisation according to electricity tariffs;
  • management of grid import and export limits;
  • critical load backup.

The battery energy storage system therefore becomes a tool for optimising not only the use of PV energy, but also the site’s overall energy management.

Smart energy management with SolarEdge ONE

CSS-OD 107 integrates with SolarEdge ONE for C&I, the energy management platform that coordinates PV generation, battery storage, site consumption and energy exchange with the grid.

The system can dynamically manage energy flows, determining when the energy generated should be used directly, stored in the battery or made available to the site according to its energy requirements.

System design, installation and safety

The system can be designed and sized using SolarEdge Designer, taking into account PV generation, consumption profiles and the project’s energy objectives.

CSS-OD 107 is supplied pre-assembled and factory-tested, helping to simplify on-site installation. Commissioning, configuration and management are also integrated into SolarEdge’s digital tools.

The system features a multi-layer safety architecture designed to monitor and protect the battery energy storage system, an especially important consideration for commercial and industrial applications.

Technical characteristics, certifications and full specifications are available in the SolarEdge CSS-OD 107 product datasheet.
