Sungrow PowerTitan 2.0: a plug-and-play BESS for utility-scale projects

Sungrow PowerTitan 2.0 is a fully integrated Battery Energy Storage System designed to reduce engineering, installation and commissioning times.

The following components are pre-assembled within the 20-foot container:

  • Batteries
  • String PCS
  • BMS
  • Thermal management and fire suppression systems
  • Control and monitoring systems

A configuration with a complete medium-voltage skid is also available, helping to further accelerate on-site deployment.

Liquid cooling and maximum energy efficiency

One of the key strengths of PowerTitan 2.0 is its patented liquid-cooling system, which extends to both the batteries and the PCS.

This architecture achieves a Round-Trip Efficiency (RTE) of up to 92.5%, representing a 2% improvement over the previous generation.

Thermal management keeps the temperature difference between cells within 2.5°C, delivering tangible benefits:

Operational continuity through string PCS technology

The use of string PCS technology improves system resilience. If a single module fails, the BESS continues to operate, with the resulting loss limited to 8%.

The comprehensive liquid-cooling design also enhances resilience in challenging environments, including areas with high humidity, dusty deserts and locations at altitudes of up to 4,500 metres above sea level.

PowerTitan 2.0 integrates multi-level safety systems at cell, battery pack, rack and container level.

These include:

  • Sprinkler and aerosol fire suppression systems
  • Temperature, gas and smoke sensors
  • Arc-fault protection systems with a 100 ms response time
  • Explosion relief vents
  • Internal compartmentalisation
  • Rack-level disconnection fuses

The system can also be integrated with customised SCADA platforms specified by the customer.
