The Sungrow PowerStack range includes the ST255CS-2H and ST510CS-4H models, offering storage capacities of 257 kWh and 514 kWh respectively. These are all-in-one, liquid-cooled energy storage systems supplied with factory pre-commissioning as standard.

Technical features of Sungrow PowerStack

Sungrow PowerStack enables battery charging and discharging at a 0.5C or 0.25C C-rate via the integrated 125 kW SC125CX PCS, with DC/AC conversion efficiency of up to 98.5%.

Thanks to the Modbus TCP protocol via Ethernet interface, Sungrow PowerStack can be integrated with third-party EMS platforms and supports customised operating strategies, providing a high level of flexibility for different energy applications.

The Sungrow PowerStack system is housed in an IP55-rated cabinet, with C4 anti-corrosion certification as standard and C5 available as an option, and operates within a temperature range of -30°C to 50°C.

All units are supplied with factory pre-commissioning, significantly reducing installation time and on-site costs.

Sungrow PowerStack liquid cooling system

Sungrow PowerStack features an innovative AI-controlled liquid cooling system, which reduces daily system heat losses by up to 33%.

This technology ensures uniform heat dissipation and maintains the temperature difference between cells below 2.5°C, helping to improve both the performance and service life of the Sungrow PowerStack energy storage system.

Thanks to its compact design, PowerStack units can be installed side by side with no clearance between cabinets, optimising the use of the available installation area.

For the ST255CS-2H, up to 25 Sungrow PowerStack units can be connected in parallel in on-grid mode and up to 10 units in off-grid mode. For the ST510CS-4H, up to 20 units can be connected in parallel.

Sungrow PowerStack fire protection system

Sungrow PowerStack integrates a three-level fire protection system designed to maximise operational safety, including:

  • flammable gas detector
  • smoke detector
  • heat detector with activation of aerosol or nozzle-based fire suppression systems
  • audible alarm and remote alarm integrated into the monitoring system

Sungrow PowerStack: AI and smart monitoring

Sungrow PowerStack integrates advanced artificial intelligence technologies for continuous cell health monitoring, enabling early detection of thermal runaway and providing three-level overcurrent protection at PACK, RACK and PCS level.

PowerStack is equipped with the iSolarCloud monitoring platform, accessible via web browser or app. It provides comprehensive system data and real-time alarms, supporting efficient fault detection and system management.

Sungrow PowerStack software can also be updated remotely via a wireless near/far-end system, helping to reduce O&M (Operation & Maintenance) and labour costs.

The Sungrow PowerStack ST CS is an all-in-one liquid-cooled battery energy storage system (BESS) designed for medium-to-large C&I applications, that can be configurated both in the 2 hours autonomy version and in the 4 hours version.

The system uses LFP cells rated at 3.2 V/314 Ah, for a nominal capacity of 257 or 514 kWh and a depth of discharge from 0 to 100%. The rated AC output power is 125 kW at 400 V, with a grid voltage range of 340-440 V. The DC/AC power conversion unit achieves an efficiency of up to 98.5%.

The liquid cooling system, managed by an AI algorithm, keeps the cell temperature difference below 2.5°C and cuts daily system heat loss by 33%. The product is pre-assembled and pre-commissioned at the factory, reducing on-site commissioning time.

Safety is ensured by AI-based cell health monitoring with early warning for thermal runaway risk, three-level overcurrent protection (PACK, RACK, PCS), and a fire suppression system with combustible gas, smoke, and heat detectors. The cabinet has an IP55 protection rating and C4 anti-corrosion class as standard (C5 optional), with an operating temperature range from -30°C to 50°C.

Last but not least, the storage is equipped by default with a UPS system for auxiliary power supply. Optional is instead the version without an internal UPS and arranged to connect to an external UPS.

The system supports on-grid, off-grid and automatic switching operation, with grid-forming technology and black start capability. Communication is via Ethernet with Modbus TCP protocol for integration with EMS300CP or with third-party EMS, while remote monitoring is handled through the iSolarCloud platform.

The product is certified to IEC 62619, IEC 63056, IEC 62040, IEC 62477, IEC 61000, and IEC 62933, and can be connected in parallel up to 25 units on-grid or 10 units off-grid.
