Cybersecurity throughout the product lifecycle

Fronius incorporates cybersecurity into product development based on the principles of Security by Design and Security by Default, addressing protection from the design stage and through default settings.

This approach includes secure coding practices, regular security reviews, independent penetration testing and risk-based security management. Fronius also operates an Information Security Management System (ISMS) certified to ISO/IEC 27001, with security controls continuously assessed and updated. This certification applies to the company’s information security management system.

GEN24 and GEN24 Plus for residential and small commercial applications

The Fronius GEN24 range includes single-phase and three-phase inverters, with Plus versions offering hybrid functionality for connecting compatible batteries.

Model designations and specifications must be checked against the documentation for the relevant variant, distinguishing between GEN24, GEN24 Plus and SC models.

What is the difference between GEN24 and GEN24 Plus? GEN24 enables the installation of a PV system with the option to activate hybrid functionality at a later stage through Fronius UP.storage, subject to the manufacturer’s conditions. GEN24 Plus already includes battery storage functionality. Backup options depend on the model and the components installed. For system designers, this distinction supports the assessment of both installations with battery storage from the outset and configurations designed for future expansion.

Fronius Reserva: modular high-voltage battery storage

Fronius Reserva is a DC-coupled, high-voltage battery using lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells. Its modular design comprises two to five modules.

The system integrates with compatible Fronius hybrid inverters and Solar.web monitoring. According to the manufacturer, data collected through Reserva is managed and stored exclusively on European servers.

System sizing must take into account the energy storage requirement, charging and discharging power, and compatibility between the inverter and battery configuration. Specifications are available on the Reserva page.

Full Backup and manual changeover

In compatible configurations, the Fronius Backup Switch enables manual changeover from grid-connected operation to backup power. Full Backup requires an inverter with the relevant functionality enabled, a compatible battery and the specified changeover components.

Availability must be checked for the exact model. For example, Fronius documentation states that non-SC versions of the Symo GEN24 Plus 3–5 kW do not support the Full Backup option. Further information is available on the Fronius GEN24 Plus page.

Verto and Verto Plus for commercial and industrial applications

The Fronius Verto range is designed for commercial and industrial (C&I), agrivoltaic and multi-occupancy residential applications, including rooftops with different orientations and tilt angles.

Maximum power point trackers (MPPTs) enable sections of the PV array operating under different conditions to be managed independently, within the electrical limits of the inverter inputs.

Verto Plus is the hybrid version, supporting compatible batteries and three-phase Full Backup when installed with battery storage and external changeover components. Verto also incorporates arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) functionality, referred to in the range as Arc Guard, to help improve system safety.

Tauro and Tauro ECO for higher-power PV systems

Fronius Tauro and Tauro ECO complete the portfolio for larger commercial and industrial installations. The family covers the 50 and 100 kW power classes, with models and variants selected according to project requirements.
