Following the launch of its first energy storage solution for the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) sector, SolarEdge Technologies has upgraded its CSS-OD platform with a more powerful and scalable configuration, designed to meet the requirements of PV installers, system designers and renewable energy professionals.
Originally consisting of a 102.4 kWh battery cabinet paired with a 50 kW PCS (Power Conversion System), the CSS-OD platform now introduces a new 197.12 kWh battery unit, available with either a 50 kW or 100 kW PCS. This enhanced configuration provides greater design flexibility while maintaining compatibility with the existing architecture, allowing the integration of one or two power conversion modules according to the project’s power requirements.
Greater capacity and scalability for C&I applications
One of the most significant improvements is the increase in storage capacity. The new 197.12 kWh battery cabinet delivers substantially higher energy density than the previous generation, enabling more compact and higher-performance storage installations.
Thanks to its modular architecture, the CSS-OD system can now be expanded up to 4 MWh of energy storage capacity, with up to 1 MW of charge and discharge power. These capabilities make it an ideal solution for advanced self-consumption, peak shaving and energy optimisation in commercial and industrial facilities.
Advanced safety features and integrated protection
In line with SolarEdge’s engineering standards, safety remains a key feature of the CSS-OD platform.
The BESS incorporates smoke, temperature and humidity sensors, supported by an integrated fire suppression system based on aerosol technology and Novec gas, designed to provide rapid and effective protection in the event of abnormal operating conditions.
The system also includes comprehensive electrical protection on both the AC and DC sides, including surge protection devices and reverse polarity protection, helping to maximise system reliability while reducing operational risks.
Simplified installation and intelligent energy management
From an installation perspective, the CSS-OD is delivered as a factory pre-assembled and fully tested unit, significantly reducing on-site installation time while minimising commissioning errors.
Integration with the SolarEdge ONE energy management platform enables intelligent control of energy flows, improving self-consumption, reducing demand peaks and optimising overall energy costs. This provides commercial and industrial businesses with greater operational efficiency and enhanced return on investment from their photovoltaic and battery storage systems.

The solution is flexible and scalable, with the possibility of adding additional batteries to meet different energy storage needs based on the size of the system. Up to two battery cabinets can be connected to each PCS and the system can be expanded up to 1 MWh.
