Huawei SmartDesign Configurator: designs and sizes the photovoltaic system

The Huawei SmartDesign configurator is the ideal tool to use of Huawei products. It allows you to design and size systems even with the combination of batteries.

Online registration to store all projects

To use the configurator it is necessary to register, the advantage lies in the fact that in this way all the projects will remain online, so that they can be revised when needed.

But not only that, it will be possible to customize both the place of installation but also the module, a very convenient function if you use modules that have just come out on the market.

Sizing of strings

The basic function of the online configurator is to size the strings correctly with respect to the inverter and the photovoltaic modules.

Sizing also with optimizers

If the selected inverter is compatible with the optimizers, the system can also be dimensioned with these.

It will therefore be possible to take advantage of the “long strings” mode which does not take into account the sum voltage of the photovoltaic modules as is usually the case but using the sizing rule based solely on the power of the string itself.

Residential systems and automatic sizing of the battery pack

In presence of residential systems, there is also the possibility of having the automatic sizing of the battery pack.

In addition to the usual data on the place of installation and on the photovoltaic generator, it will be sufficient to enter the annual consumption of the home.

At the output, the configurator will return the ideal battery capacity in addition to the data on the length of the strings.

In this way, the Annual Self-Consumption Rate is also estimated.

Of course you will also have all the remaining data on the specific yield, the DC / AC ratio.

Parallels and connectors quantity

When using the Huawei configurator, it must be taken in consideration that configurations with a higher number of parallels than the number of physical pairs of input connectors are prohibited by default.

Although from an electrical point of view, the MPPT input would accept this type of configuration via an external parallel.

To remedy this, this function must be unlocked using the “2in 1 support” key, as can happen with modules with 5-inch cells that have not so high currents but high voltage.

Cable sizing

The last non-mandatory step is the sizing of both DC and AC cables so as to check for leaks in these parts of the system.

Detailed report in pdf

Once the configuration is complete, you can download a detailed report in.pdf that can be attached to the quote for your customer with all the details of the case.
