Optimizing the energy production of photovoltaic systems is becoming increasingly important, also for C&I installations.
Huawei responds to these needs with the MERC-1100W-P and MERC-1300W-P, dual optimizers specifically designed for high-power modules and the requirements of large-scale plants.
Why optimize a C&I system?
Shade management and production maximization
In C&I systems, even small shading, caused for example by chimneys, ducts, walkways, signage, or irregular areas, can significantly compromise the overall yield of photovoltaic modules.
With Huawei optimizers, each module can operate at its own maximum power point (MPP), preventing a single partially shaded panel from reducing the production of the entire string.
Advanced module-level monitoring
For operators and owners of C&I systems, being able to quickly identify any anomalies is fundamental.
The Huawei MERC-1100W-P and MERC-1300W-P optimizers continuously communicate with Huawei inverters. This allows every single module to be monitored and provides advanced diagnostics via the Huawei FusionSolar platform.
O&M management therefore becomes much more efficient, thanks to the ability to quickly identify faulty panels, performance drops, or incorrect wiring.
Improved safety for installers and operators
Huawei optimizers also offer rapid shutdown functions at the module level, reducing the output voltage to 1 V per optimizer, ensuring safety during maintenance interventions, emergencies, or system shutdown.
These features are particularly important in industrial environments subject to Fire Department CPI regulations.
Technical features of Huawei MERC-1100W-P and MERC-1300W-P
The dual Huawei MERC-1100W-P and MERC-1300W-P optimizers are designed to work with two photovoltaic modules connected in series, thanks to an input that supports voltages up to 125 V and high currents.
The MPPT operating range is wide and suitable for next-generation modules, and they offer very high conversion efficiency, up to 99.5%.
The nominal power of these optimizers is 1100 W and 1300 W respectively, and they can be connected to up to two 550 Wp modules in the first case and two 650 Wp modules in the second. The electrical structure allows installations in long strings, typical of C&I projects.
Compatibility with Huawei inverters
The MERC-1100W-P and MERC-1300W-P optimizers are designed to work with several Huawei C&I inverters, including:
- SUN2000-12/15/20/25KTL-MB0
- SUN2000-30/36/40KTL-M3
- SUN2000-50KTL-M3
- SUN5000-150-MG0
Huawei documentation specific to each inverter includes the minimum and maximum number of optimizers per string, as well as design rules to maintain correct voltage and current values.
An important aspect to remember is that in optimized configurations, all modules connected to the same inverter must be equipped with MERC optimizers.
The Huawei MERC-1100W-P and MERC-1300W-P optimizers are designed to be connected to two modules in series each. They are designed to increase energy yield by reducing losses due to mismatches or shading. They also support long strings thanks to their wide MPPT range.
Thanks to module-by-module monitoring integrated with the FusionSolar platform, any anomalies can be quickly diagnosed, improving maintenance operations. In addition, they offer a rapid shutdown (RSD) function, which lowers the output voltage of the optimizers to 1 V to ensure safety during intervention.
Robust and durable, with an IP68 protection rating, MERC optimizers are compatible with many Huawei C&I inverters, making them an ideal choice for commercial and industrial installations with modern high-power modules.
